Green Claims Support

Evidence behind every claim. Certifications and recyclability tests provide operational proof ready and in preparation for the EU Green Claims Directive.

What it is

A consulting project that builds the evidence base behind every green claim your brand makes on packaging, in marketing or in regulatory filings. Each substantiated claim is produced in consultation with our legal partners, using the outputs of your certifications and recyclability test results.

How it works

Claim inventory

We assess every proposed claim you intend to make, this information is provided by you and your team at the beginning of the assessment.

Evidence assessment

For each packaging and associated claim, we assess the certifications and recyclability tests that have taken place previously with our consultants.

Final output

Our legal experts will recommend claims and redraft your proposed claims that are substantiated by your completed certifications and recyclability tests.

Who it's for

The following three groups are requesting support for green claims. This comes at a time when navigating a stricter regulatory landscape makes substantiating environmental claims more critical than ever.

Brand and marketing teams

Teams who want the green claims they make to hold true as EU rules on environmental claims tighten.

Sustainability and ESG teams

Teams who need confidence that published claims support sustainability and ESG goals.

Legal and regulatory teams

Teams who require a fully substantiated, independently verifiable and defensible set of claims.

Frequently asked questions.

What does the EU Green Claims Directive actually require?

The proposal requires every environmental claim to be substantiated with widely recognised scientific evidence and verified by an accredited third party before it appears in commercial communication. The directive itself has stalled in the EU legislative process, but the direction is clear: regulators across Europe are tightening the rules on environmental claims.

Can you also handle the third-party verification?

For green claims, yes. CIRCPACK is an accredited certifying body for RecyClass and RECY:CHECK, and operates the CERTIFY scheme.

How long does the engagement take?

This is project specific and will be defined at the beginning of the project with our legal experts.
