Recycling Masterclass
Self-paced online video course or online/in-person live sessions with our experts.
What is CIRCPACKs Masterclass programme?
As part of the Recycling Academy, we provide the Masterclass Recycling to support organizations in navigating the recycling and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) landscape. This educational offering delivers independent, material-agnostic expertise to help teams understand current industry challenges and prepare for upcoming sector requirements.
We have three versions available:
- Recorded sessions:
These sessions are intended for an introduction into the worlds of household packaging recycling and legislative contexts. We have recorded three sessions and will do a One-on-One call after you have watched all sessions to answer your most burning questions.
2. Online Live Sessions:
We will present three lessons to you. The content of the Masterclassess is adjustable and we will incorporate your packaging examples in our explanation. You will be able to directly ask you questions and steer the direction of the Masterclasses. We will, as a forth session, do a One-on-One session as well the ask the rest of your questions.
For corporate leadership, a specialized executive-level version is available. This concise, C-suite iteration is structured specifically to brief board members on essential compliance and strategic recycling factors.
3. In-person workshop with on-site visit:
Here we will visit one of Veolia's operational sorting facilities to get a better understanding on processes, and challenges and how packaging design can influence the sorting.
After the visit we will host a workshop dailored to your specific needs (recycling, sorting, EPR, PPWR, etc.)
The content for option 1 and 2 can contain the following topics but is not limited to it:
Session 1 - Collection and Sorting: How household packaging is collected and sorted across European systems, and the technologies (NIR, eddy current, optical, manual) behind each.
Session 2 - Reprocessing and Design&Certification: What happens to each material in reprocessing i.e. plastics, glass, metals, paper and cardboard, beverage cartons, what technologies are used and where design choices limit reprocessing. The Design for Recycling guidelines that govern each material and the certification schemes built on them (RecyClass, CERTIFY, RECY:CHECK).
Session 3 - Extended Producer Responsibility: How EPR works, how fees are calculated, how eco-modulation translates recyclability into a fee level, and how the system differs from country to country and how it developed over time.
Session 4 - The One-on-One session: dedicated live session to ask your questions to our experts.

Frequently asked questions.
Both. Most clients prefer an in-person day at their office so engineers can bring real packs to the session. Remote delivery works for distributed teams and uses the same modules.
Yes — see the Tailored Masterclass for a version built around your specific packaging portfolio and your employees' starting knowledge level.
Yes — the (Non-)executive Masterclass is a concise boardroom briefing focused on PPWR penalties, EPR cost trajectories and brand exposure.
Attendees keep the slides and references. We offer optional 90-minute clinics on live packaging briefs, and our consulting team can pick up specific portfolio questions as a separate engagement.
